Jennifer M. Lancaster, Ph.D.

Dr. Lancaster received her doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at Kansas State University’s Counseling Services in Manhattan, Kansas. While at Kansas State University, Dr. Lancaster worked mostly with young adults in an effort to help them overcome challenges to their overall success, including depression, anxiety, adjustment difficulties, personality disorders, eating disorders, bereavement, and identity and relationship concerns. She also served as the liaison for the university’s LGBTQ Resource Center and Women’s Center. Dr. Lancaster is completing her postdoctoral fellowship at the Moore Counseling Center under the supervision of Dr. D. Gant Ward.

During her graduate clinical training experiences, Dr. Lancaster developed a specialization in assessment, working to identify in clients potential learning disabilities, ADHD, career decision making skills, mood difficulties, and other mental health concerns. Additionally, Dr. Lancaster spent several years working in a local in-patient facility, helping to provide a therapeutic environment for children and adolescents with behavioral, emotional, and sexually acting-out difficulties.

Dr. Lancaster provides psychological evaluations, including diagnostic interviews with children and parents/guardians, intelligence, achievement and emotional/behavioral measures, while incorporating behavioral observations into her report and recommendations. Dr. Lancaster also provides therapy for clients with a variety of concerns. Her approach in therapy is primarily eclectic, providing therapeutic techniques based upon the presenting problem, clients’ strengths, and evidenced-based practices. During the initial session, Dr. Lancaster will obtain a thorough history related to the family, the individual’s development, and academic and social functioning. Additionally, treatment options will be discussed and a treatment plan will be developed collaboratively with the child and his or her parents. Parent education and support will be incorporated into treatment, if applicable.
