Dr. Sarah K. Gardner, Psy.D.
Dr. Gardner is a pediatric neuropsychological post-doctoral fellow at the Moore Counseling Center in Moore, Oklahoma. Dr. Gardner received her PsyD in clinical psychology at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, Washington, D.C., and earned her M.A. in clinical psychology at the American School of Professional Psychology, Washington, D.C, at Argosy University. Prior to her doctoral degree, Dr. Gardner earned a M.S. in clinical mental health counseling at Johns Hopkins University (JHU). She holds several professional certificates including a Post-Baccalaureate in autism studies and a certificate in Choice Theory/Reality Therapy. She earned Provider Status in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) through the VA and is a community provider for CPT for PTSD. While working towards licensure as a clinical psychologist, Dr. Gardner holds an active license in the state of Maryland (MD) as a clinical professional counselor (LCPC) and is a nationally certified counselor (NCC).
Dr. Gardner is from the East Coast and has worked in several well-known outpatient mental health practices and group private practices across her home state of MD providing mental health therapy to a wide array of clientele. In addition to outpatient mental health care experience, Dr. Gardner owned and operated a private practice for two years. Her pre-doctoral psychology internship was at the APA-accredited Eastern OK VA Health Care System, in Tulsa, where she focused on providing mental health therapy and psychoeducational groups for the LGBTq Veteran population, providing mental health care and assessment for women’s issues and PTSD, provided compensation and pension evaluations, as well as neuropsychological screeners and diagnostic evaluations for autism. As a post-doctoral fellow, Dr. Gardner provides neuropsychological and psychological evaluations as well as evidenced based therapies for individuals and families.
Neuropsychological evaluation experience is as follows: Dr. Gardner spent a year working at the Neuropsychology Associates of Fairfax, in Virginia, providing evaluations for adults with possible dementia, multiple sclerosis, stroke, epilepsy, Parkinson’s Disease, encephalitis, TBI, Lyme disease, and auto-immune conditions. She also spent a year at Children’s National Medical Center, in MD, providing diagnostic and neuropsychological assessment to children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder and other neurodevelopmental and executive functioning disabilities. She focused on neuropsychology in her doctoral program and took additional classes from the National Academy of Neuropsychology. Dr. Gardner has approximately 10 years of experience working with autism spectrum disorder and other executive dysfunctions in children. She is thrilled to be providing neuropsychological services and mental health therapy at Moore Counseling Center!
